One day, I received a text message from a friend, and he asked me “What promises are you waiting on the Lord to fulfill in your life?” As I sat with the question, I began to look back over my life and examine where I am now and I had my answer. I told him, I am living in the promises that I wanted the Lord to fulfill! The things I prayed for, the woman I wanted to be, it is all manifesting right now. PRAISE GOD!

Here are 3 ways that the Lord has faithfully kept His promises.

1. Community: One thing I have learned about myself, is that I check boxes a lot! I do things sometimes, just for the sake of saying I did them (ridiculous). I do it mostly with people. Once I realized it, I took it to the Lord and asked him to help me be present with the people. Let me observe them and get to know them better, and experience them for who they really are. I also prayed for more friends that loved Jesus, that was after Jesus’s heart. All of these things came within the year. I have some of the best friendships, I have ever had in my life and some of the healthiest too. They pray for me, hold me accountable, make fun of me, adventure with me, get mad at me, and they do it all in love! I am super blessed!

2. Faithful Church member: In 2018, I left my family church and started going to church on my own. It was one of the scariest, but most liberating things I had ever done. To me, it meant that I was choosing my own relationship with Jesus and not my family’s relationship with Him. It took me about a year and half to really be apart of my church. I am shy and I really didnt know how to start relationships on my own and I was scared. In 2020, we were having church and small group online. Every week I was attending both and the Lord began to move my heart for Renewal (the name of my church). I started to see the people, as not just “random people I go to church with,” but as family. I didn’t want that feeling to stop, so I got a little more intentional with my prayers. One prayer I prayed specifically was to get closer to the pastor and his wife. I wanted to know them, so I asked the Lord to let me babysit their children. A year later at our church anniversary, my pastor randomly walked up to me and ask me could I babysit their kids ( I haven’t stop babysitting for them since). After that, God kept answering random prayers that I had forgotten I prayed and before I knew it, I was this faithful member in my church and people new my name and I went every Sunday. Ya’ll God is good!

3. God is Alive: Since signing up for the World Race, I have invited the Lord into every part of my life. I needed him more than ever this year, because I knew that I wasn’t going to raise $18,000 without Him. I also knew that WR was more than about traveling and doing ministry, it was about the chance to experience God in a way I never have. The thing is, He didn’t wait till I got on the field to start doing it. Since inviting the Lord into this journey, he has not stopped confirming my prayers. its almost like, when I invited Him in, He was like “Finally!”

I think about the story of Jacob and his sons making a deal with Shechem and Hamor. Jacob sons were so upset with Shechem because of the audacity he had to come and ask for their sister’s hand after he defiled her. Jacob and his sons end up making a deal with Shechem and Hamor, telling them, that Shechem had to get circumcised to marry Dinah. After Shechem and all their men got circumcised, Simeon and Levi went into their city and killed all the men and the other brothers looted the city. You would think that God would be like “seriously!” He didn’t though! (Gen. 34)

Do you know what God said to Jacob, He told Jacob to get up and go to Bethel (Jacob’s promiseland) this is the same place God told Jacob to go 20 years earlier when he was fleeing from Esau. (Gen. 35:1)

Why am I telling you this whole story, because Jacob made mistakes, his sons did some bad things. God never stopped being faithful! God never stopped keeping his promises of protection over this family line. The even greater news is that we are apart of this family line. We make mistakes and we fall, but we experience the faithfulness of God too and we see His promise displayed more clearly and gloriously through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. PRAISE GOD!

I encourage you to live in the faithfulness and the goodness of God! Look over the things that you have asked God for and see what prayers and promises He is fulfilling. It is so amazing to see how ALIVE God is!

  1. Ericka, my girl, this is amazing! God is SO good and SO faithful! How amazing is it that He is the One that keeps His promises and we don’t have to keep it for Him?! And thank God we don’t because we would lose them! I am so happy to hear how God is moving in your life, what a testimony AND prophesy for everybody else that God is faithful and ALWAYS keeps His promises!

  2. Hey Sweet One! God is so GOOD, HE is absolutely GOOD! I love that you are seeing His sweetness and love toward you by His many answered prayers in your life. He is drawing you closer and closer to Himself. Isn’t it exciting to think of all the things He has for you in the coming months. Looking forward to seeing you in a few days at Launch! Love you!

  3. Ericka,
I knew early on in your life God had a plan for you, You were so mild mannered and flawless in beauty. But when you were 5 he told me to give you to him and he would take care of you. I didn’t know then what he meant. I thought it was about the bus stop, where I had to leave you so you could go to school….. but God had so much more planned for you. I am so inspired by your faithfulness and your walk with the Lord. May he show you all the beautiful treasures he has for you in this season of your life. Continue to be blessed. I love you, Mom
